Rewind: One Week Post-Op Outing

And, before I knew it, it was time for my one week post-op visit with my doctor. Had it really only been one week since my DIEP flap surgery and I was feeling well enough to enjoy a po-boy for lunch with my beau?!? Roughly one week after my initial mastectomy surgery in 2017, I only felt well enough to do a check-in with family and friends and talk about why I had such a radical surgery in the first place. Still foggy on hard drugs and nodding off seemingly every two minutes and trying to get used to the bricks (ie. tissue expanders) in my chest.

As I mentioned in my recent one week check in this time, both Bill and I were amazed and extremely pleasantly surprised that I was feeling so good. Still walking pretty hunched and the pain wasn’t kidding around so I was still alternating between Tramadol and ES Tylenol. But, so far the entire experience from the Center to the surgical hospital has been a very welcome experience from my last surgery and hospital experience.

Since I talked about my week one experience and feelings in my And Then There Was One post already, I won’t reiterate it all here. Suffice it to say at my one week point, I was already feeling like I did on probably my three week point last time. Granted a lot of that was from the damn tissue expanders, but still…I’ll take the little victories.

Just call me Crazy Eyes Annie.
Still a little hunched over at one week, but already feeling much straighter.
Trying to chill my warm, healing skin.
Carefully removing the rash inducing surgical glue without removing any precious scabbing. Ouch. Also…gross!
Making progress on the puzzle, too! How fortunate that our airbnb had a coffee table that just fit the puzzle! It was clearly meant to be our “home”.
Writing my one week update post in “our” beautiful backyard.

Thank you for continuing to follow along and of course, for all your love and support. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, I couldn’t have done this without it.
