Body Pain, Headaches, or Nausea? Pick two

An anesthesiologist was recently asked about their favorite part of the job. The reply? The patient waking back up.

So we’re making progress, especially from that perspective. Annie’s back “home” in our AirB&B in New Orleans, after getting discharged Tuesday. The surgery went well, and bonus points…at her post-op appointment today three of the four installed drains were removed.

Yet some surgeries you feel a little better and up to doing things faster than others. This isn’t one of those surgeries. She’s recovering a little more every day, but still taking things easy. So sorry—you have to hear from me instead.

From a dietary perspective, we’re following all the rules and steaming some fish and broccoli. Hahaha, no.

I picked up a “Nick Fury” from District Donuts for dessert: Peanut butter glaze with hot fudge drizzle, and topped with an Oreo cookie and cocoa nibs (although fish is on deck for dinner tonight–shhhhh).

The cat’s currently asleep, spread over a blanket draped across Annie’s shins, and the TV’s tuned for episodes of Moms and binge-watching Jane the Virgin. Perfect for a nascent recovery.

More from her soon, I promise.

(Quick update just before publishing—Annie ever-so-slowly moved her legs down to the ground to get up to go to the bathroom, and the cat, now quite alarmed at the obvious earthquake under her, well…..just laid back down on the blanket and immediately fell back asleep. Cats.)
