Rewind: First Days Following Stage Two

When I was finally able to get out of my hospital bed the day after surgery (with assistance, but still), guess what was the first place I motored to? One million dollars to the person who first guessed – the Icee machine!

Ah, you know, it’s the little things in life, isn’t it?

Well, like my last hospital stay and those first couple of days, I don’t remember a whole lot of it, so I’ll let the photos mostly speak for themselves, with some hilarious, if I do say so myself, captions thrown in.

Did you know Icee’s make you cold?
And make you look like you have some rare, horrible disease?
On to more pressing matters, trying to get permanent marker off my face with alcohol wipes, which also made me look like I had some rare horrible disease.
Feeling a little better, but wouldn’t have minded staying a second night.
But, it was time to go.

We were lucky enough to get to stay at the same Airbnb, NOLA Happy Home, where I recovered after Stage 1. Leigh was just an awesome host. FIVE Stars.

Slightly cooler weather than in August, but still rained a fair amount. I was happy to be able to rest outside this day.
This swollen little piggy…
I believe this was me attempting to smile. Can’t be sure, though.
Callie. Not attempting to smile.
Not having surgical glue used = more sutures opening. Good times..
Lucky number 4 drains again. My husband so graciously draining them. Again.
The compression socks are the seriously the height of fashion and still manage to be super comfortable. Not.
Getting my walk on.
Getting my Netflix on.
Callie getting her sleep on. Again.

So there you have it. The first few days after my “easier” Stage Two surgery. Try not to be too jealous of my glamorous self. This post was really just a way to sneak in more Icee photos and shots of Callie, looking quite glam herself. She’s clearly too cool to care, though.
