Rewind: One Week Post Op

Friendly reminder that content is likely NSFW and definitely gross.

Well, I hope you got your fill of cookies, because today kids, we’re back at it.

By the time my first week post-op appointment came after my Stage Two surgery, I was pretty psyched to be able to shower by myself. With Stage One, that was a good bit past that first week, much to my disappointment.

Which also means my personal photographer (aka dear husband, aka Bill) was able to get a couple SFW shots of me in action.

Lots of antibacterial bath wash was used so I could get a really good soapy lather built up…
Which I then used to drizzle down the all parts of my body that had sutures.

Nice and clean so it was time to get some one-week post-op pics. As you recall, my bruising was much better by my three-week point. I seriously credit the Arnica. But these photos? These are OW with a capitol O AND a capitol W.

Modeling my compression garment (which I’m still wearing(!!) & surgical bra. One drain left which is not long for my world at this point!
Can’t wait to get it removed, but first a few questions. 😉
Showing my “fishing line” stitches sans surgical glue this time. Skin was definitely a bit happier because of it, but…
Still gross.

Back home and shower + modeling + outing = worn out Annie. Callie didn’t mind, though.

That she minds! No photos please.
Goodnight!

I can look back at these photos now and marvel how far I’ve come. I still have some nasty scabbing, my scars aren’t even close to fading, still have some hard swelling on my left abdomen right above my long horizontal scar and I’ve had a little “deflation“, but overall I’m incredibly happy with how things have progressed.

When you look at these photos, please know that all of this has been worth it. #soworthit

Sending you both much love and good thoughts Anne. This is so familiar to me, even as I know that no two journeys are alike. Thank God for love and modern medicine. Wishing you much love and strength as you heal. Good thing that the quarterback is near to your side.

    1. Aww, thanks so much, Coach. <3 Yes, truly, thank God that I’ve been able to go on this journey and lower those incredibly high odds that I won’t get breast or ovarian cancer. (And for the incredible quarterback by my side!) I know you know all too well, unfortunately, what those illnesses can do to a family. Keeping you and your family *always* in our thoughts. xoxo…
